As I began my exit plan from my 26-year corporate career in 2019, I had a dream to publish books that help Christian women prosper without guilt.
There was just one problem.
I knew how to manage complex projects and how to systematize operations. I definitely knew configuration management inside and out.
But I didn't know how to WRITE in a way that connected with readers, sold books, or built a publishing business.
That gap between "I want to be a publisher" and "I AM a publisher" required skills I didn't have. I needed to learn how to write compelling copy and persuasive messages. Top that off with communicating with an audience within the Christian market.
I had no idea where to start.
So just like I did for my corporate career, I invested in my education.
In 2020, I enrolled in AWAI (American Writers & Artists Institute) training courses. (If you read my earlier post on finding my writing voice, you know where this journey started.)
Today, I'm a published author with three books, I co-authored a fourth, and I run Inspired Eagle Publishing—helping Christian women entrepreneurs turn their stories into published works.
Here are the three AWAI courses that made the difference.
If you're a Christian entrepreneur who needs to write (for your business, your ministry, or your book), these are worth every penny.
Secrets of Writing for the Christian Market
With this course, you can learn to write with conviction without being preachy.
When I started writing for Christian audiences, I struggled with balance. How do you write about faith authentically without sounding like a Sunday school lesson? How do you integrate biblical principles into business content without alienating readers who aren't "churchy"?
I'd read Christian business books that felt either too secular (faith was an afterthought) or too preachy (every sentence had a scripture reference). I wanted to find the middle—writing that honored God while serving readers practically.
The AWAI course, Secrets of Writing for the Christian Market, taught me how to:
Write for Christian audiences and stay authentic with my approach. My teaching is practical and deep; it’s ok to write with depth.
Integrate faith naturally into business, personal, and devotional content
Understand the Christian publishing market; what sells and what doesn't
Craft messages that resonate with believers without turning off people who are still seeking
Navigate sensitive topics with wisdom and grace
After taking this course, I published the first book in my "Dear God" series. These prayer letters feel like honest conversations with God. They’re real tear-jerkers. I embraced being vulnerable without Christian performance. Readers tell me they feel seen, not preached at. That's the skill this course builds.
This course is perfect for:
Christian entrepreneurs who need to write marketing content that reflects their faith
Authors writing for Christian audiences (devotionals, business books, memoirs)
Ministry leaders creating content for newsletters, blogs, or books
Anyone who wants to write about faith in a way that feels genuine. Use the formula without sounding formulaic.

How to Make Money and Find Meaning Writing for Nonprofits
Learn how to ask for financial support without sounding desperate.
Many Christian women I work with run nonprofits, ministries, or cause-based businesses. They're doing impactful Kingdom work…feeding the hungry, serving single mothers, providing scholarships, training youth, and funding mission trips.
But they struggle to ask for money.
They feel guilty about fundraising. They write donation appeals that sound apologetic or desperate. They post on social media about their cause, but can't articulate why someone should give NOW.
Even though I don't run a nonprofit, I took this course because I work WITH ministry leaders and business owners who need these skills. The course taught:
How to write compelling fundraising letters that inspire action (not guilt)
The psychology of donor giving (why people give, when they give, and what motivates them)
How to craft grant proposals that get funded
Storytelling techniques that make your cause unforgettable
Email campaigns, newsletters, and social media strategies for nonprofits
I now help clients (and feature women through "Pushing Up Women") who run ministries and businesses. I can guide them on how to communicate their mission clearly, write fundraising content that works, and build sustainable support systems.
This course is essential for:
Ministry leaders raising funds for Kingdom work
Nonprofit founders who need to write grants, appeals, and donor communications
Christian entrepreneurs supporting causes through their businesses
Anyone who needs to inspire people to give (time, money, and resources) to a mission

Copywriting for a Cause
Who doesn’t want to learn how to market for a mission, without losing your soul?
Here's the tension every mission-driven entrepreneur faces: You're building a business to fund a cause you care about. But how do you market your business without sounding like you're just using your cause to make money?
How do you write about your mission authentically? How do you inspire customers to buy because they believe in what you stand for—not because you guilted them into it?
This was my struggle when launching Inspired Eagle Publishing. I'm not just selling books. I'm giving Christian women permission to prosper. That's a MISSION. But I still need to make sales.
The AWAI Course, Copywriting for a Cause, bridges the gap between mission and marketing:
How to write marketing content that highlights your cause without exploiting it
Storytelling strategies that connect customers to your mission emotionally
How to build a brand around purpose (not just products)
Ethical marketing for mission-driven businesses
Creating campaigns that convert because people WANT to support what you're building
I learned how to position Inspired Eagle Publishing as more than a business—it's part of my mission. I can market my books and services confidently because I know I'm serving a greater purpose. My messaging reflects that, and it resonates.
This course is for:
Christian entrepreneurs building businesses with Kingdom impact
Mission-driven businesses (some call themselves social enterprises or B-Corps)
Anyone who wants to market authentically without compromising their values
Business owners who want customers to buy because they believe in your "why"

Some of the examples in the course material reflect an earlier era of marketing…you won't find AI mentioned, and a few of the businesses referenced have since closed.
But the underlying copywriting principles hold up. Because good persuasion, clear storytelling, and honest communication don't expire.
Which Course Should You Take First?
Here's how to choose:
Start with the Secrets of Writing for the Christian Market Course if:
You're writing books, devotionals, or content specifically for Christian audiences and need to master faith-integrated messaging.
Start with the course, How to Make Money and Find Meaning Writing for Nonprofits, if:
You're raising funds for a ministry, nonprofit, or cause and need to write appeals, grants, or donor communications.
Start with the Copywriting for a Cause Course if:
You're a mission-driven entrepreneur building a for-profit business with a Kingdom purpose and need authentic marketing.
If you can swing it, take all three. They build on one another and cover the full spectrum of writing skills that Christian entrepreneurs need.
From Amateur Writer to Published Author to Publisher: What Changed
Before AWAI, I was a systems expert who could organize anything. But writing that wasn’t “technical” was difficult for me. Even though I became a published author alongside other authors in 2009 and 2012. But we had a coach for those Anthologies.
After AWAI, I became:
A published author (3 books by me, 1 co-authored)
A developmental editor (helping other authors refine their manuscripts)
A publisher (running Inspired Eagle Publishing and serving Christian women entrepreneurs)
The ROI is immeasurable.
These courses didn't teach me to write better. They taught me to:
🖤 Communicate with clarity and conviction
🖤 Build authority in my niche
🖤 Market my books and services
🖤 Help OTHER women tell their stories
Over the years, my financial investment has generated:
Book sales for myself and my clients
Publishing clients paying $750 - $5000 per project
Speaking opportunities
Authority positioning that attracts ideal clients, like my grant clients
A business I can run from anywhere
If you're a Christian woman entrepreneur who knows you need to write—for your business, your ministry, or your legacy—these courses are the shortcut I wish I'd taken sooner.
