Not Regretting My Life Decisions_Yvette Ward Live Inspired.png

I choose not to regret my life’s decisions. I think about my life often. There are some emphatic statements that I’m willing to make about my life.

Had I done life my way, several events would be quite different. I would not have the wonderful experiences of that 30-year period of time. I would not have these amazing children. My path perhaps would have been altered and who knows what the end results would have been.

Up to this point, I have visited or lived in 25 of the 50 United States of America. I lived in Germany, cruised to several locations, and traveled the bush of Jamaica and Africa. I am blessed to have friends across the globe.

From 17 years old, I said I was going to get my college degree, become a career woman, not get married, and not have children.

I usually laugh when I think of this because it ended up being 2 and 2. I earned 2 college degrees and became a career woman.

I’m thankful that God saw fit to adjust my life. I was married for 30 years and have 4 beautiful young people.

My children gave me a sense of purpose as I traversed through life. If you follow me, I’m sure you will hear all about my now grown children. I have zero regrets of having birth these amazing young people.

I married at the age of 19 so I grew up with my husband. He was 21. We may be divorced after all those years, but I’m learning to have no regrets about my decision, even in that.

As a single woman, I’m “learning.”

Living single with no regrets takes work. There are a few things I wish I had done differently. Sometimes, I start to process those few things from the negative perspective.

But then I remember.

I’m learning. I’m growing. And I’m becoming an even better person as a mature, single woman.

My marital status changed. And I chose to change careers. Both happened in the same week. I completely started over and I’m ok with that choice.

It feels great to be free.

This way of thinking where I remember what I’m doing and where I’m going, helps me to live single with no regrets.

I cannot change my past; therefore, I do the work of forgiveness that leads to healing. That is how I can be ok with having lived a full life that did not go well in many instances. I do the work to resolve my past.

Resolve the past.

My encouragement to you today, is to resolve those past places in your life so that you feel no regret. That could mean do the work of forgiveness so you can let it go.

Letting go does not mean totally forgetting. But you forgive to be able to move forward, freely.

Maybe for you it is not forgiveness, but whatever it is. Do the work.

Resolve your past.

Now embrace your future.

Like mine, the future may or may not be what you expected. But where you are going does not have to be hindered by where you have been.

The decision is up to you for what you want to do with your future life. We all have choices to make.

Sometimes we feel bound because of where we are, or not knowing where we want to go. Even then the choice to do something about it is yours.

Do the work. And live inspired to be the best future YOU that is possible.

You can do it!!
