Editor’s Note
There are moments when a woman’s story does more than inspire us. It reminds us that God created us on purpose, for purpose.
Pushing Up Women was born from that kind of moment.
In this cover feature, we highlight former University of Florida standout and WNBA draft pick Jennifer George, whose leadership continues far beyond the court.
We believe every woman carries influence, whether she stands on a stage, leads a business, raises a family, or shifts her community through faithfulness. Scripture shows us again and again that God moves powerfully through women who are willing to say yes.

Who Is Jennifer George?
More than an accomplished athlete, Jennifer is a proven leader whose life reflects excellence, discipline, and service.
A proud alumna of the University of Florida and an SEC legend, Jennifer was a standout for the Florida Gators women’s basketball team. She became the 11th Gator in program history to score 1,000 points. Jennifer is remembered as one of the most dominant inside presences at the University of Florida.
Did you read that? She’s an SEC legend!
WNBA's Indiana Fever drafted this powerhouse athlete. She closed out her professional career playing in Puerto Rico. Jennifer also played for the Jamaican National Women’s Basketball team, where she led her Country to a Gold medal in the Caribbean Championship.
I applaud the many accolades of Jennifer’s stellar career. Yet her impact today speaks even louder.
Nothing wasted.
From Player to Founder and Mentor
Jennifer’s influence did not end when the final buzzer sounded.
She is the founder of the Girls Basketball Worldwide Foundation (GBWF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting under-resourced communities through basketball development and holistic support for girls.
The foundation emphasizes:
Basketball fundamentals
Leadership development
Body image awareness
Nutrition and wellness education
Confidence building
Jennifer, through GBWF, is teaching girls basketball fundamentals, creating opportunities, and making a lasting impact in their communities.
Impacting Her Community and Beyond
Jennifer's work includes organizing high-impact events that combine athletic excellence with life preparation. Drawing on her degree in recreation and event management, along with her background in fitness training and strength and conditioning coaching, she brings both vision and expertise to every initiative she leads.
Her initiatives include:
Youth clinics in Englewood
The first all-girls 3-on-3 tournament hosted at Rollins College
Annual showcases
An annual clinic in Kingston, Jamaica
The “Hoops In” Series at the DMV and GNV
The “Hoops In” clinics give girls the opportunity to experience basketball from women currently playing at the next level. The GBWF has partnered with the Georgetown Women's Basketball Team and the University of Florida Women's Basketball Team. The clinics incorporate a mentorship segment featuring the CHAMP For Life Curriculum for Student Athletes, developed by Winners Win Inc. This partnership produced a successful pilot of the curriculum, yielding valuable feedback that helped shape a well-designed program equipping student-athletes for both sports and life.
Are you interested in bringing this experience to your community? Consider co-hosting a 'Hoops In' Clinic in your local community. Contact GBWF to explore the possibilities.
Through her global outreach in her homeland of Jamaica, Jennifer is working to refurbish a basketball court to create safe and empowering spaces where young athletes can grow, compete, and dream bigger.
Each event sparks excitement. But more importantly, each one instills discipline, resilience, and belief.
And belief changes trajectories.

One of Jennifer’s signature fundraising efforts combines fun and fundraising during the annual “Greens for Hoops” Golf Scramble. This multi-day event brings together athletes, sponsors, and community supporters to raise funds for continued outreach and scholarship support.
During the event, the Girls Basketball Worldwide Foundation awarded its inaugural Markeshia Grant Scholarship.
Tierra C. from Wekiva HS was the honored recipient.
During the 2025 Green For Hoops Tournament, the celebration focused on community, connection, and purpose.
Arianna Viera was the recipient of the 2025 scholarship.
