Verse of the Day: Psalm 1:2-3
2: but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. 3: That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.
Psalm 1:2-3 NIV
The benefit of this Word is that whatever you do prospers. Who doesn’t want that life?
Let’s backtrack to how we can receive that blessing from the Lord. Because let’s face it, there are conditions on it all.
Let me digress for a moment. I don’t want conditions placed on me. I say it often: love me unconditionally. I give unconditionally. But let’s be real, everything is conditional in some form or fashion.
God placed conditions on blessing us. I’m letting go of the mindset that I lived with for so many years. Conditions exist for a reason. If the condition isn’t met, the benefit doesn’t get delivered. That’s real talk.
In this verse, the way to prosper is to
Delight in the law of the Lord. Don’t see God’s Word as too much or too restrictive. It actually helps us to do what is good and what is lawful. It keeps us out of trouble and out of harm’s way.
Meditate on God’s law continuously. We think about what we care about. Or said differently, where our thoughts flow becomes what we live and experience. So, if we want the good, focusing on what God says to do is the best approach. We’ll find ourselves doing less of what displeases Him. Those are the things that block our blessings.
We talk about creating habits. Here’s a good one: develop habits that align with God’s Word.
The advantage to you when you do what God’s Word says to do is that whatever you do, prospers.
Don’t discard what God requires of you. Enjoy the Word, it’s good…take delight in it. Obey it and see how you benefit in the most amazing ways.
