Verse of the Day: Ruth 2:12
A Woman Who Stays the Course
May the Lord repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.
Giving is a part of who I am, who I have become. I have had an amazing 20-year career that carried a very nice salary. That means I often provided for my family and others. Because of my income, it was rare that we received anything at a "free" or "reduced" price. I was accustomed to that.
But my choices, including the one to exit Corporate America and build my business, brought a change. A couple of years ago, God spoke this into my spirit, “day by day”.
This scripture hit emotionally for me because I’m a living testimony of God providing for me through others, day by day.
That is exactly where Ruth found herself, dealing with life.
She Had Options
When Ruth stood at the crossroads of returning to her own people or staying with Naomi, she had no way of knowing what waited for her on either path. She made her decision with the knowledge she had in that moment, trusting God with everything she could not yet see.
That is how we live too, isn't it? We don’t know what tomorrow holds. We know the details in front of us and the desires in our hearts, but we have no guarantee of the outcome and no way to know how it will all come together.
She Made Her Decision
Ruth chose to stay with Naomi. And as she lived out that choice every day, her faithfulness, her dedication, and her obedience did not go unnoticed. God rewarded her, even though she was not looking for recognition.
Listen, I’m not saying she was perfect nor that we need to do “everything” right in order to receive what God has for us. But I am saying that Boaz heard about Ruth's sacrifice and her commitment to Naomi. Because of what he heard, he made provision for her. She never asked him directly nor did Naomi. The provision came because God was already moving on her behalf.
God's Way of Doing Things
God has a way of blessing His people that we do not always understand. We don’t think the way He thinks. His ways are higher than our ways. His thoughts about us are intentional and better than we can ever think or imagine.
He uses whomever He chooses to bless His children, His daughters, His servants. rewards faithfulness even when we walk it out imperfectly, even when we cannot see where the path leads.
Closing Out This Series
Over several Verse of the Day segments,
We’ve talked about being faithful in what is small; it prepares us for what is large.
Staying planted through dry seasons keeps our roots strong enough to hold what is coming.
Trusting God to finish the work He started in us, releases us from the pressure of finishing it ourselves.
And staying the course, even when the road looks nothing like what we expected, like Ruth, it positions us to receive provision we never could have arranged on our own.
Ruth stayed the course without knowing Boaz was coming. She simply kept walking faithfully in front of her, one day at a time.
So here is what I want you carrying with you as we close this out. Where in your life right now are you being asked to stay the course without knowing how the story ends? What would it look like to trust that God is already making provision, even in the parts of the season that feel uncertain or unfamiliar?
Stay faithful in what is small. Stay planted. Trust Him to finish what He started. And stay the course, even when you cannot yet see where it leads.
May the Lord repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.
